We now stock a really strong rubber ferrule to fit any shooting stick.
Our shooting sticks all have a metal spike at the tip for pushing into soft ground (such as in a field) but if you require the stick to be used on a hard surface such as a pavement, then one of these ferrules is what you need.
They are reinforced with steel washers and are designed to withstand the weight of the shooting stick (about 1.5 kg) and the weight of the person using it.
You can buy one on our website by clicking the following link walking stick ferrules
We have two new cane holders to buy on the website. The last cane holder was difficult to use so we have replaced them with these!
These cane holders can be used for all sticks with a shaft diameter of up to 3/4 inch. These gadgets are really useful as they enable the cane user to lean their stick against a table (even a round table!) without the stick sliding on to the floor. This stops the stick getting damaged and avoids a bit of hassle!
We use Royal Mail to send the majority of our orders and we think they are excellent! Deliveries reach their destinations the next day in over 90% of cases on a first class delivery service. The Special Delivery next day and Saturday delivery service is guaranteed and the only time in our experience that this didn’t happen was during the snow in January 2010 (a national disaster!)
Unfortunately, our standard length walking sticks are too long to send by Royal Mail so we use a courier instead. This is why our postage and packing fees may seem high for a light object, especially a stick like a carbon fibre cane weighing just 230 grams. Our courier prices are the cheapest and most reliable we can find and thankfully, the weight limit is quite high so that we can send 1 or 20 sticks for the same price which is of course passed on to our customers.
We are always looking for ways to improve and provide a better value for money service, so if you know of or work for a courier company that can deliver parcels over 100cm in length please contact us to tell us about them.
If we can use a cheaper (but still reliable) courier we will of course pass the savings onto our customers.
Many thanks in advance for any help you can give.
We have just applied quantity discounts to all lines at www.walkingsticksonline.co.uk
We have had this feature on the ferrules for a long time and now you can order 1 to 6 of the same stick through the website and get ££££s off your order.
We have found that about 20% of our customers buy 2 sticks, usually one for home use and another for going out and holidays. The fold-able sticks have been particularly popular for this.
Our new discounts typically mean that if you purchase 2 of the same stick, you will save £4 or £5.Then, if you buy 3 to 6 sticks the price reduces further and further. You can choose the quantity on each product page and then click “add to basket” and the discount will show in the shopping basket.
Also, our anatomical canes that have a choice of left and right hand models, can now be purchased as a pair, saving £4. Many of our customers already buy both the right and left handed canes and now you can enjoy some money off!The postage costs stay the same (£6.75 for standard length sticks and £3.95 for folding) for up to 6 sticks in the same order.
We are pleased to be able to expand our walking stick stock again with some new extra short and extra long sticks available to buy online now. The extra short patterned folding handbag sticks are already proving to be popular as are the standard sized range. For taller people, we have now added a new folding seat, some extra long anatomical sticks and a very stylish and extra strong Derby cane. These can also now be viewed and purchased from the website.
Good news! Our two very popular economy shooting sticks are now back in stock! Many thanks to all for your patience after a long wait. As usual, you can order these sticks (or any of the 200 plus sticks in stock for that matter) for a next day, nominated day, or standard delivery to any address in the United Kingdom. We can also post items abroad.
We have just added some offset and quad canes to the site and now have them all in stock.
Quad canes are really excellent support canes and they have many features to enhance this. Mainly, they are free standing so they will stay exactly where you leave them (no more bother about picking your stick up from the floor!). They also have a large handle that is easy and comfortable to grip and there is an easy height adjusting mechanism on the shaft so you can achieve the perfect height stick for you.
The other type of stick is called an offset cane, so called because of the special shape of the shaft which centres your weight directly over the shaft. This feature makes it a very strong and reliable stick but still being very lightweight.
The offset cane is also known as a swan neck.
Both types of cane are available in bronze, wood effect and a pretty blue Morris pattern.
We receive a number of enquiries from people, particularly younger people who need a walking stick but do not want an unattractive and bulky cane that screams DISABILITY!
If you or anybody you know needs to use a walking stick or some kind of walking aid in their daily lives but are reluctant to do so for whatever reason, then here is an update on what is available on the market today that may help to change your or their mind.
First of all you need to identify what a stick would be used for. Would it be useful to have a stick that turns into a seat to be used when waiting in a long queue (at the airport for example) when there isn’t a readily available seat? Or would it be nice to have a strong, reliable walking stick that looks like a hiking pole instead of a mobility aid?
Many people, particularly young people or people who have had an accident do not want to use a stick for support. I think the main reason for this is that the thought of a walking stick conjures up images of NHS, bulky and unattractive sticks and people are unaware of the sportier, more attractive sticks available. To take a fresh look at what is available these days, a good place to start looking is on the internet.
Sticks today can be bought in funky metallic pink, designer patterns, pretty floral or sporty styles. You can buy sticks that look like umbrellas but have the strength to support a person and have different walking stick style handles, not just crooks. Whatever your taste or favourite colour, you are sure to find something to suit.
Other considerations are whether a stick would be more of a hindrance than a help. If a stick may only be needed for occasional use then you don’t want to be carrying it around all of the time unnecessarily. You won’t be wanting something too heavy in this case either. Well, the solution is to get a fold-able walking stick. One that can be stowed away in a handbag or (for men) in a jacket pocket. These sticks tend to be very lightweight but strong and reliable when it comes to supporting the user..Carbon fibre walking sticks are also a brilliant solution. Some weigh only 250 grams but are incredibly strong (ten times stronger than aluminium sticks).
Also it is worth keeping up with the ever increasing pace of technology and innovation. For example, if its a stick for the blind that’s needed, you know one that’s painted all-white for increased visibility, there is now talk of a handheld wireless sensor the size of a television remote control that may soon replace the white canes and other walking sticks that have guided the blind for centuries. The sensor is designed to detect obstacles in the way and a working model of the magic wand hasn’t been built yet but give it time…
We are pleased to be able to offer a large choice of walking sticks in many different styles, colours and sizes that we feel there is something to suit everybody!
We are pleased to announce the launch of our new-look website. We have added some new products, such as umbrella sticks, shopping trolleys and quad canes.
